Massimiliano is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento. He received his PhD cum laude at Sapienza University of Rome in 2020, advised by Prof. Barbara Caputo and Prof. Elisa Ricci. After that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Explainable Machine Learning lab of the University of Tübingen, led by Prof. Zeynep Akata. His work focuses on improving the generalization capabilities of deep architectures to new visual domains and semantic concepts, with particular attention to transfer learning, trustworthiness, and compositionality.
